ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan was taken into custody at the Islamabad Toll Plaza. Imran Riaz Khan, who has been granted bail by the Islamabad High Court, has had thirty separate police reports filed against him.

The police in Attock have now reported that an FIR has been filed and that he is being taken to the police station. Earlier, a number of FIRs were made against journalists in several towns like Muzzafargarh ad Sargodha.

However, Malik Ahmad Khan, the provincial law minister, countered that Islamabad was not the place where Imran Riaz Khan was apprehended. The Punjab authorities have filed charges against him.

In a tweet, Patron of Pakistan Tehreeke Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said, “I strongly condemn the arbitrary arrest of  @ImranRiazKhan by Punjab police tonight. The country is descending into fascism just to make our nation accept an Imported Govt comprising of mega crooks. It is time for everyone, esp the media, to unite & stand up against this fascism.

Before his arrest, Imran Riaz Khan made a video statement in which he claimed, “I was arrested at Islamabad Toll Plaza and I was traveling to Islamabad for bail when I was detained, while the Chief Justice Athar Minallah had ordered not to arrest me.”

According to the claims, the anchor’s conduct was a major criminal and a breach of the Constitution since they insulted Pakistani citizens’ sentiments.
