ECP postpone Punjab elections till October
  • ECP delayed elections due to security and the absence of funds.
  • The higher authorities are much concerned about the security risk.
  • Apex court has issued the order to hold elections within the constitutional limits.

The election commission of Pakistan (ECP) postpone election of Punjab on Wednesday by reasoning that right know the political condition is not favorable for free and fair election. Although Punjab elections to be he on April 3o which delayed to October 8, 2023.

The ECP released eight page order in which they stated:

“It is impossible to hold elections on April 30 due to security threat issues and absence of fund to provide the level playing field for the political parties to contest elections.”

This is claimed that elections could not be possible to held in Punjab under the circumstances provide by law-enforcement agencies, finance, defense and interior ministries, Punjab chief secretary and others, the all bodies opposed the elections.

Earlier, Apex court has issued the order to hold elections within the constitutional limits which bounds  them to hold elections in 90 days.

The Chief justice Umar Atya Bandial ordered the President of Pakistan Arif Alvi to hold the elections in Punjab on April 30 and Governor  Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) to hold elections on May 28, but he refused the date of elections later on.

It is quite possible that the Article 6 may be implemented on election commission of Pakistan for forbidding Apex court order.
