Kamran Akmal was instrumental in Pakistan’s innings, scoring 77 runs, while Sharjeel Khan contributed significantly with 72 runs. Sohaib Maqsood also played a crucial innings, smashing 51 runs off just 26 balls before being dismissed.
However, veterans Shahid Afridi was dismissed for zero, contrasting with Shoaib Malik who remained unbeaten with 25 runs. The Indian bowling attack managed to take key wickets, with RP Singh and Anwarit Singh each claiming one wicket, supported by Dhol Kulkarni and Pawan Negi, who also dismissed one player each.
In response, India’s batting effort fell short despite commendable performances from some of their players. Ambati Rayudu played a steady hand, accumulating 36 runs, while Suresh Raina top-scored with 52 runs. Robin Uthappa contributed 22 runs, followed by Yuvraj Singh with 14 runs and Irfan Pathan with 15 runs. However, their collective effort was insufficient to reach Pakistan’s target.
Pakistan’s bowling attack proved to be the decisive factor in the match. Shoaib Malik and Wahab Riaz were the standout bowlers, each claiming three wickets, putting immense pressure on the Indian batting lineup. Sohail Tanvir and Haris Sohail supported them well, taking one wicket each to restrict India’s progress towards the target.
