People Urge Keeping Imran Khan in Jail 5 Years for Pakistan's Progress: Ahsan Iqbal

The PML-N government expressed its stance on the imprisonment of Imran Khan, the founding leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), suggesting that he should remain in jail for their entire five-year term until 2029 to ensure economic stability.

Federal Planning and Development Minister and PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal conveyed this during discussions with reporters.

He stated that many people have approached them, emphasizing that for Pakistan to progress smoothly, Imran Khan must remain incarcerated for five years.

According to Iqbal, the concern is that if Imran Khan were released, it could lead to renewed protests and political strife, which the country cannot afford at this critical juncture.

He highlighted a prevailing sentiment among the public that Imran Khan’s continued detention is necessary for stability.

Iqbal described Imran Khan as a contentious figure, labeling him as frequently aggressive, though it remains unclear who he is at odds with.

The minister underscored the belief among a population segment that keeping Imran Khan in jail for an extended period is essential to prevent disruptions like protests and conflicts that have previously disrupted governance.

In summary, Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the government’s position that imprisoning Imran Khan for five years is crucial to maintain stability and avert potential chaos that could hinder Pakistan’s progress.
