Paris Saint-11th Germain (PSG)’s wins in a row Champions League bid ended in defeat, so is it time to “rip it all up” and start again?

Bayern Munich eliminated them in the first round of the knockout stage after defeating them 2-0 on Wednesday in Germany.

A team that featured Lionel Messi, who is regarded as the best player in football history, Neymar, who was injured for the second leg, and Kylian Mbappe, the two most expensive players in history, failed to score for more than 180 minutes.

“The Paris St-Germain project was designed to win the Champions League, and they’ve fallen far short of that goal. “It appears to be a failure in the end,” said former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole on BT Sport.

“They have so many brilliant individuals,” said ex-England midfielder Owen Hargreaves. It’s not a group. It’s a pity. They’ve assembled a fantastic team, but they’re actually going backwards.”

“It’s a huge disappointment,” said PSG manager Christophe Galtier. We must deal with and accept it.

“I’m not sure if it’s a lesson to be learned, but there’s a lot of frustration. It would have been different if we had scored first, but we didn’t.”
