PSL 2023: Hasan Ali, a right-arm pacer, spoke out briefly in support of Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed after his team suffered a sixth defeat in the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

When the Gladiators had Qalandars seven down for 50 runs in 10 overs, they had a crucial opportunity to secure a much-needed two points to make a case for playoff qualification.

Lahore Qalandars were brought back from 50/7 to 148, which their bowlers easily defended, thanks to Sikandar Raza’s incredible 71-run innings. This helped the team secure a convincing 17-run victory.

Before experiencing a match-changing collapse, the Gladiators got off to a strong start in the run chase with their openers Will Smeed and Yasir Khan raising 50 runs within the powerplay.

As his team struggled to reach 64/4 in the 11th over, Sarfaraz came out to bat. However, because of his inability to play big shots, the Gladiators fell 17 runs short despite having an unbeaten captain.

Despite his poor performance, he managed to score 27 points off 28 deliveries and hit only one boundary.

After the disastrous performance of Gladiators, Islamabad United’s right-arm pacer Hasan spoke out in Sarfaraz’s defence and urged him to “stay strong.” Sarfaraz is now the captain of Pakistan.

“Stay strong, mera kaptan [Sarfaraz Ahmed],” Hasan tweeted.

It is important to note that the Gladiators, who have just two points after seven games in the PSL 8 standings, need a miraculous turnaround in order to make the playoffs.
