WhatsApp testing local chat transfer feature for Android devices

Currently, the only way to transfer your WhatsApp chat history between Android devices is through a Google Drive backup.

However, WhatsApp is now testing a new feature that will let you transfer your chats without Google Drive. This feature is being tested by some beta testers who are using the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android.

The new tool will enable you to locally migrate your chats from one Android device to another.

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows Android users to locally transfer their chat history between devices without using Google Drive.

To use this option, you need to scan a QR code from your new device to start the migration process. It is not clear whether this transfer will use a local peer-to-peer connection.

The feature will be helpful for users with poor internet connectivity and will be faster than backing up chat history to Google Drive.

The feature is currently available to some beta testers, but it may not appear in the Settings menu for all users. WhatsApp will likely release this feature to everyone soon.
