Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, is widely considered one of the greatest soccer players of all time. He was born on October 23, 1940 in Três Corações, Brazil, and grew up playing soccer on the streets of his hometown. Pelé began his professional career at the age of 15, when he joined the Brazilian club Santos Futebol Clube.

Pelé quickly made a name for himself as a talented and skilled player, and he helped lead Santos to numerous victories in domestic and international tournaments. He also made his debut for the Brazilian national team in 1957, and played a key role in helping Brazil win the 1958 World Cup, the country’s first ever victory in the tournament.
