Maya Jama has reportedly confirmed she will return for a third season of Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” following a wave of speculation that Meghan Markle could join the crime drama, a claim several cast members have dismissed.

Jama’s Debut Season Impressed Producers

Jama, 32, made her scripted acting debut in the show’s second season as Aisha, a character connected to Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James. A source told The Sun that Jama impressed producers with her performance and that bosses were glad to see her return for the third series, according to thenews.com.pk.

Jama has spoken about working with director Guy Ritchie on the project, saying he did not feel as intimidating as expected given his industry reputation, and that he was personable and reassuring on set.

Meghan Markle Rumors Persist Despite Denials

Speculation that Meghan Markle could join the show’s third season emerged in late August, coinciding with reports of her and Prince Harry’s return to the UK. Cast members including Ray Winstone and Hugh Bonneville have said they had not heard anything credible about the reports, according to Geo News.

Theo James has repeatedly laughed off the rumors at press events, joking at one point that Sarah Ferguson would instead be joining as his love interest, before adding that the Markle speculation was “mainly a lot of hot air,” according to Tyla.

Netflix Confirms Season Three Is Happening

Netflix has confirmed a third season of the show is in the works, though Meghan’s involvement remains unconfirmed either way. James said the show plans to expand its world into new countries for the next installment, though he said specific plot and casting details remain undecided.

Season two of “The Gentlemen,” based on Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, premiered on Netflix this week, with Kaya Scodelario, Vinnie Jones and Giancarlo Esposito among the returning cast.

Jama, who rose to prominence as a Rinse FM DJ and MTV presenter before hosting ITV’s Love Island, made her earlier acting debut in a small role on the Netflix comedy “The Duchess” before joining “The Gentlemen” cast. Her return for a third season would mark her most substantial acting role to date as she continues to build out a career beyond television presenting.
