MULTAN: On Saturday, Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain explained how he could vote for the PTI candidate in the Punjab chief minister’s election if he supported those who criticized state institutions.
Shujaat Hussain stated in a statement, “Parvez Elahi was my candidate for the job of the chief minister, even now he is my candidate, and will be so tomorrow as well,” he said.
He estimated that his interactions with the establishments lasted between three and four decades at the most. What he couldn’t do was back the people who were criticizing the institutions. According to him, criticizing institutions is OK but insulting them in an unacceptable way isn’t allowed. According to Ch Shujaat, institutions see maintaining the country’s integrity as part of their mission.
“Such disrespectful rhetoric toward institutions will not be tolerated by me. This would be met with an appropriate response by patriotic Pakistanis every time they hear it,” he remarked.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and other allies, including Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, worked hard to help the party win the election of its Chief Minister in Punjab Assembly, according to Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan.
A veteran and patriotic politician, he said that PML-Q Chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain deserved full recognition for his decision to get Hamza Shehbaz Sharif elected as chief minister, and he was joined by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb and PML-N Leader Talal Chaudhry at a press conference in Model Town.
People’s ambitions led to the PML-win N’s in Punjab Assembly, Rana Sanaullah Khan said, adding that the PML-N had vanquished those who were trying to stir up the disturbance. In the end, “all such endeavors were thwarted”.
“Today’s re-election of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz is a win for democracy,” he had added. According to the Supreme Court’s verdict, no MP can vote against the party leader’s order.
