PCT's journey to Finals in ICC T20 World Cup Australia

What a roller coaster ride for Pakistan, starting from the slow grip at the beginning of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia and ending up in the finals by beating the favorite team of the tournament (New Zealand) in the semi-finals.

‘Is dafaWorld cup humara hay’

The Pakistan Cricket Team has once again proved that once they are in kill mode, no one can stop them. A famous song dedicated to the PCT in last year’s T20 world cup proved true, as mentioned:

NEW ZEALAND KO BHI KIA MARA HAY IS DAFA WORLD CUP HUMARA HAY !!!!!!!!!!!!

It appears that history is repeating itself, as the 1992 Cricket World Cup was held in the same location (Australia). In the tournament, Pakistan made their way to the finals by beating New Zealand just the way ‘Shaheens’ crashed the Kiwis today.

Shaheen Afridi might have a hundred problems, but taking wickets of the top-class batters in the first over of the innings may not be one of them. Taking the wicket of Kiwis Allen was a sigh of relief for the PCT fans. The bowling lineup did exceptionally well against New Zealand.

Apology for Babar and Rizwan

Today’s opening pair of Babar and Rizwan proved once again to the world that when the team needs them the most, they always deliver and are the best opening batting pair in the world. Both players deserve an apology from the former cricketers, media, and sports journalists who bashed them for their few bad performances, including the ex-players of Pakistan.

PCT journey in ICC T20 World Cup Australia

It was a shock for the whole Pakistani nation to lose against India in the opening match of Group B. Later on, the upset that the Pakistan Cricket Team felt after losing to Zimbabwe for the first time in any ICC tournament made it pretty clear that there is no chance for the PCT to go ahead in the major tournament. With three matches remaining, there was no choice but to rely on the other teams and their performances.

To be sure, that’s how nature works when things go your way; Pakistan won all of the remaining matches with a good run rate, including the most important result of the match between South Africa and the Netherlands, in which the Dutch beat the Proteas in a sensational match and Pakistan beat Bangladesh, allowing the Shaheens to advance to the semi-finals.

The only problem with Pakistan was the opening pair of batsmen. Muhamad Rizwan and Babar Azam were ranked one and two in the ICC men’s rankings, but as the days passed in the tournament, both were dethroned to second and fourth place, respectively. The team’s morale was low at first, but once it found its groove, there was no turning back for the Shaheens.
