Samsung is holding a Galaxy Event on Wednesday to unveil the newest addition to its Galaxy S26 lineup, widely expected to be the Galaxy S26 FE, a more affordable Fan Edition model that brings core flagship features to a lower price point.
What Samsung Has Confirmed
The virtual-only event streams live on Samsung.com, the Samsung Members app and Samsung’s YouTube channel at 8am ET, or 9pm Korea Standard Time. In its official invitation, Samsung said the new device is “purposefully designed to bring many Galaxy S26 experiences from camera to AI, along with the latest One UI,” without naming the product directly. The company has not confirmed pricing or a release date beyond the event itself.
The event comes roughly a month after Samsung’s July 22 Unpacked event, where the company unveiled its Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 foldable phones. The Galaxy S26 series itself, comprising the standard S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, launched in February at a starting price of $899.99 for the base model.
Confirmed vs Rumored
Samsung has not officially confirmed the device name, specifications or pricing ahead of the event. Based on leaks, the S26 FE is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, alongside Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chip. Leaked details suggest the device will carry over Galaxy AI features including Live Translate, Circle to Search, Generative Edit and Note Assist, with the Exynos chip’s neural processing unit expected to run many of those features on-device rather than routing every request to Samsung’s servers. None of these specifications have been verified by Samsung itself.
Samsung’s previous Fan Edition launches have typically followed a pattern of adopting the current generation’s design language while keeping specifications close to the prior year’s FE model. Last year’s Galaxy S25 FE was unveiled in early September, putting this year’s August 27 event slightly ahead of that pace.
Why It Matters
Samsung’s online-only format for the event, rather than an in-person Unpacked show, signals a mid-cycle product announcement rather than a major flagship reveal, consistent with how the company has historically treated Fan Edition launches. For consumers, the S26 FE is expected to offer a way to access much of the current Galaxy S26 experience at a lower price than the flagship models, though full details will only become clear once Samsung takes the stage.
