Around 54 worshippers have lost their lives and more than 70 have been injured in twin explosions in Mastung, Balochistan; and Hangu, KPK. The wave of terrorism has yet again shattered Pakistan.
The first blast struck a procession to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) in Mastung, Balochistan province, killing at least 52 people. Moreover, two people have also been reported killed in an explosion at a mosque in Hangu during the Jummah prayers.
Police affirm Mastung explosion was a suicide attack
Following the explosion near the procession of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi in Mastung, Balochistan’s Police Chief Abdul Khaliq Shaikh has confirmed that it was a suicide attack. A senior police officer, Mohammad Nawaz, was among the dead, according to the local media.
In a statement, Shaikh acknowledged the bravery of the slain police official, Nawaz Gishkori, who sacrificed his life in an effort to stop the attacker. The police chief also reported that three other police officers were injured in the attack.
Shaikh emphasized that the armed groups’ aim is to create unrest and instability in Balochistan and has ordered the police to take full action against the individuals responsible for the blast and their supporters.
The District Health Officer in Mastung, Abdul Rasheed briefed that 30 bodies were taken to one hospital and 22 others were counted at a second hospital.
Mosque roof crumpled after blast
“Two people have lost their lives and six others have been injured in the mosque blast in Hangu,” Bilal Faizi, a rescue official, shared that the blast caused the mosque’s roof to collapse during Friday prayers.
“ We hope the authorities will take swift action to bring those responsible to justice and prevent such tragedies from happening again,” he mentioned.
According to Geo News, about 30 to 40 worshippers were trapped under the rubble.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for Friday’s bombing, but Pakistani Taliban quickly distanced themselves from it.
