YouTube has recently updated its YouTube Partner Program (YPP) policy, making it easier for aspiring YouTubers to monetize their content. Previously, creators needed a minimum of 1,000 subscribers to apply for YPP, but now only 500 subscribers are required.

In addition to the subscriber count, creators must have made three public uploads within the last 90 days and achieved either 3,000 watch hours in the past 12 months or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. Previously, the requirements were 4,000 watch hours or 10 million Shorts views.

These changes grant new creators access to fan-funding features like channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Thanks, and more. However, to earn revenue from ads, creators must still adhere to the previous rules. Once creators meet the existing YPP eligibility criteria, they automatically become eligible for revenue sharing from ads and additional benefits, without reapplying.

Initially, the new eligibility criteria for YPP will apply to creators in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. YouTube plans to introduce these changes gradually to other countries.

Furthermore, YouTube is expanding its Shopping affiliate program to eligible creators based in the United States, who are in YPP and have over 20,000 subscribers. This program allows creators to showcase products from other brands and creators, earning a commission on sales generated through tagged products in their videos and Shorts.
