During a case at the Sindh High Court, a Grade 17 officer from the Local Government Department was unable to spell ‘Math’.
Justice Salahuddin Panwar presided over the hearing of a petition regarding the illegal allocation of plots at the Sindh High Court. Moharram Ali Sand, an officer from the Cooperative Society department, appeared in response to the court’s summons.
During the hearing, the lawyer informed the court that Moharram Ali Sand, the officer of the cooperative society, had canceled the lease of the plots in question, on which the petitioners were seeking justice from the court. The court expressed its displeasure at Moharram Ali Sand.
During the hearing, Justice Salahuddin Panwar asked Muharram Ali Sand, which department he worked for. Muharram Ali Sand said, “I am a grade 17 officer in the local government.” Justice Salahuddin Paiwar inquired about Muharram Ali Sand’s educational qualifications. Sand stated that he holds a BA in Mathematics.
Justice Salahuddin Panwar asked, “From which university did you obtain the BA in Mathematics?” Moharram Ali Sand responded that he obtained the BA from Shah Latif University as a private student. The court then asked Moharram Ali Sand to spell “mathematics.” When he failed to do so, the lawyers and the public laughed.
The petitioner’s counsel also informed the court that Registrar Cooperative Societies Zameer Abbasi is a grade 18 officer, although he is currently posted in grade 19, which surprised the court.

However, after hearing the case, the court adjourned the further hearing of the application until May 22.
