Rockstar Games is set to give fans their first real look at gameplay from Grand Theft Auto VI on August 27, when an extended preview premieres on Netflix ahead of the game’s November 19 release. Here is what is officially confirmed about the most anticipated game in years, and what is still just rumor.
Confirmed: The Release Date and Platforms
GTA 6 is officially set to release on Thursday, November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro) and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has confirmed this date directly, and Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed it in its most recent quarterly earnings report, which listed the game in its Fiscal 2027 product pipeline for those two platforms only.
The date has moved twice. The game was originally teased for a 2025 window, then given a firm date of May 26, 2026, before Rockstar pushed it back again to November 19, citing the need for additional time to finish the game to the standard it wanted. No PC release date has been announced, and Rockstar has a long-standing pattern of releasing PC versions of its games roughly a year or more after console launch, so a PC version is expected but not yet confirmed.

Confirmed: An Extended Look Is Coming to Netflix
Rockstar has officially announced that “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, August 27, at 3pm ET, before also going live on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the official GTA VI website at 9pm ET the same day. It marks the first time Rockstar has partnered with a streaming service to debut game footage, and follows two prior trailers, the first of which broke records for views on a non-music YouTube video within 24 hours of release in December 2023.
The setting for the game is confirmed as Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida that includes a modern reimagining of Vice City. The story follows two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, described in Rockstar’s own synopsis as a couple who find themselves caught in a conspiracy after a heist goes wrong.

Confirmed: Price and Pre-Orders
Pre-orders for GTA 6 have been live since June 2026 on the PlayStation and Xbox stores, as well as major retailers, with the standard edition priced at $80, a first for the mainline GTA series. Rockstar has said the game will ship as a single-player experience “set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet,” though it has not detailed what, if any, online or multiplayer component will accompany the single-player game at launch.
Rumored and Unconfirmed
Beyond the confirmed details, a wide range of claims about GTA 6 remain unofficial. Reports that the console version will not run at a full 60 frames per second even on PS5 Pro are based on analyst speculation, not a Rockstar statement.
Claims about a PC release timeline, a Nintendo release, or specific technical specifications have not been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two in any official capacity.
Industry insiders, including analysts who have accurately predicted past Rockstar announcements, have said they are confident the November 19 date will hold and that no further delay is expected, but that too remains outside of what the studio has officially stated.
With the extended look just days away, fans are likely to get their clearest picture yet of what the finished game looks like, though Rockstar has kept full gameplay demonstrations under wraps until now.
