“Shearer will undoubtedly be watching, but I’m not certain if he’ll be pleased or not. I’m in high spirits, and I have a lot of ambitions ahead.”

Between 1961 and 1970, Greaves, who began his career at Chelsea, scored 266 goals in 379 games for Spurs.

Kane debuted with Spurs in 2011 and has since appeared 416 times.

After Shearer and Wayne Rooney, who scored 208 goals combined, Kane is the Premier League’s third-highest scorer overall since the league’s inception in 1992.

He has 19 goals overall and 17 league goals this year for Spurs, which is 11 more than Son Heung-min, the club’s second-highest scorer.

Kane is also on the verge of overtaking Rooney as England’s top scorer all-time with one more goal. He and Rooney are tied on 53.
